Colorado Gold and Gems #1870
The initial discovery of gold in Colorado was in 1859. This occurred in Cherry Creek, near the confluence with the South Platte River. Gold has been a major contributor to the economic growth of the state. The estimated production of gold has exceeded forty two million ounces since this early discovery. This map package includes a map of Public Surveys in the Colorado Territory in 1866 as well as other regional mineral maps. We have broken the state up into four sections and indicated, in red, the gold deposits for the past 100 years. The locations of the 65 gems listed are indicated by number. This is a wonderful companion for the Colorado Ghost Towns Maps!
